Enemy missile capabilities have increased exponentially within the past decade. The ability to produce, deploy, and launch explosive ordinance has become increasingly simplified. Globally, state and non-state actors who have had the intention, but rarely the means, have gained the capacity to pose a significant threat to the United States and its allies. Aggressors such as Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, Myanmar and North Korean, have all shown substantial growth in their ballistic missile programs
The global missile defense market, which was worth $10.27bn in 2010 alone, is currently in a state of flux as development continues to move beyond established markets in the US and Europe. A growing number of allied countries will be investing billions of dollars into missile defense programs over the next 10 years and are looking to procure increasingly sophisticated technology or collaborate on further ranges of missile defense.
The future development of Americas integrated missile defense system will be increasingly imperative. To protect U.S. interests at home and abroad as well as support and reassure our allies, the U.S. must make acquisition efforts to bolster our missile defenses and the defensive capabilities
